Drag and Drop

Drag and Drop is handled on several levels within the Desktop Publishing demo:

File drops from outside the application are handled in 3 different ways:

·When a file gets dropped on the main document window, the editor will try to insert the image that this file represents at the exact location of the drop. Note: you can only drop image files of format BMP, GIF, JPG and PNG.
·When a file gets dropped onto the thumbnail list, the editor will try to add the image that this file represents to the page that the file was dropped on.
·When dropping multiple files onto the document window, a special wizard will be started that will help you add these images to your current document. Read more about it in the "Add Multipe Images" Wizard.

Drag and Drop within the document window
Use this method to move or copy shapes. Normal operation is to move a shape, but by holding down the [Ctrl]-key you can copy a shape. Note that the cursor changes to a little [+] in that case.

Tip: If you want to move the shape more than just in the visible area, it is helpful to set the menu option View > [x] Hotzone Scrolling. You can then drag a shape, hold your mouse close to the edge of where you want to move, and the document will automatically scroll in that direction.

Drag and Drop from document window to thumbnail list
Use this method to move or copy shapes to another page. Simply drag the shape from the document window down to the thumbnail list and drop it on the correct page to move it there. B holding down the [Ctrl]-key you can copy the shape to the new page.

The shape will be placed on the same position as that it was in the other page.

Drag and Drop within thubmnail list
Use this method to move pages. You can thus change the page order easily. If you want to duplicate pages, you can hold down the [Ctrl]-key to copy a page instead.
