Where to start?

Postby Blackcat » Wed Feb 23, 2005 3:33 pm

I am not a programmer but I am in need of a specific imaging task. I was told that Image magick would be the way to go, I downlaoded it & subsequently got confused & ended up here.

Anyway, what I am looking for is a way to process a batch of images from say a Dos command line. The images would always be in a specific place, the program I want is to take all the images, lay them on top of each other & then merge them to give a single file.
The images would be taken of a subject at differing z-levels, so for example image 1 would be focused at the top af the sample, image 2 would be focused at the middle of the sample & image 3 at the bottom of the sample, the resulting file would produce in effect a greater depth of field image.

Can this done? is there something already out there?
please advise / help point me in the right direction

Hello Steve,

Concerning Delphi Magick: I don't personally support it anymore, because the headers change much too often to keep up with. For a more recent version that might work, check out the yahoo group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/delphimagick

Concerning imaging work: I'm not exactly sure at what you try to do, but you could start by taking a look at e.g. Graphics32, to get a basis in image processing within Delphi. Graphics32 is just the very basis but some additional functionality can be found in the 3rd party section of the website:
http://www.g32.org/graphics32/

For image alignment (like the process of overlaying two sheets to line up, but then for images), SimDesign offers a commercial component. A demo can be provided. Contact me personally if you're interested.

Kind regards,

Nils
